Cask beer @ Uncle Billy's
There is a cask tonight at Uncle Billy's. I hear that it is a pale ale. Brian usually taps it after 7pm.
Also I hear that the Holiday beer should be on tap tonight. It is a smoked weizenbock. This is the beer that I helped Brian create and brew.
BTW- Tuesday is $2 pint day, but the cask beer is $3 if I remember correctly.
See ya there.
Cheers.

Beer!
Last night my wife and I went to a nice impromptu tasting over at our friends Dan & Joelle's house that included a small vertical of Saint Arnold's Christmas beer and a larger vertical of J.W. Lee Harvest Ale. We need to remember to do verticals more often - they're fun. Some of the other beer we fun too, of course! That '05 New Belgium La Folie (Thanks Tim & Naomi!) was mighty good!
It was a good time, as always. Thanks D & J for the hospitality.

Seasonal Beers
It's that time of the year again. Seasonal beers are finally streaming into town! And one of my favorite is Great Divide's Hibernation Ale. This fine beer is now available on tap and in bottles. I know right now they have it on tap at one of my beloved haunts - The Draught House.

Brewed a Holiday Beer
I spent the better part of the last 2 days brewing with my friend Brian Peters, brewer at Uncle Billy's Brew & Que. He wanted to brew a non-spiced holiday beer. I came in and worked with him on the recipe and the brewing of the beer. I don't want to say yet what it is because Brian wants it to be a surprise. I'll just say that it will be something very different and tasty with a little higher alcohol than the rest his beers at UB.
Thanks Brian! It was a blast to work with you.

Now I need to do something!
Well crap. I guess I need to get off my ass and write something. Now that my friend Jordan "Outed" me and my blog.
See, I was going to just "ease" in to this whole blogging thing. That's one reason there so few posts. The other (and real) reason is I am a lazy ass. But I'd rather be lazy than lame. And right now my blog is lame. So lets see what I can do with this...
Oh, and thanks Jordan for kicking my lazy ass.

Beer Tavels
In an attempt to catch up on my beer travels here is the first in a series of post.
In August we took a road trip up to Madison, WI for the Great Taste of the Midwest. I found this festival to be among the best I have ever attended.
They limited the attendance to 5,000 people so it was not too crowded and there were about 500 different beers to sample.

So in short, there was a lot of beer and fun to be had. I will definitely try to get tickets to this next year!

We will be leave on August 8th and be back on the 14th.
On the way back we are going to hit New Glarus Brewing and pick up some of their delicious beers!
All in the name of BEER!

Up Coming Beer Trip
I'm heading to Portland, OR for the Spring Beer Festival so I'm doing some planning. I need to decide which Texas beers to take for trading. I'm thinking:
Real Ale Sisyphus 2003 & 2004
St Arnold Divine Reserve #4
Maybe more we will see...
